Aaron Tuckey at Cherry Poets

This weekend we are absolutely chuffed to present AARON TUCKEY as our feature. He’s an international slam poet with a focus on environmental and climate-based works, and he’ll be doing his thing with us this Saturday afternoon! Plus there’s plenty of poetry OPEN MIC and all that nice stuff the pub does for us – good food, good drink, and good times. MORE ABOUT THE FEATURE:
Born in Mandurah, Western Australia, and trained as a musician from a young age, Aaron became an accidental poet in 2013 when he found himself without an instrument and in urgent need of a creative outlet. His interest in poetry flourished over the subsequent years and he self-published his first anthology in 2016, The Long Winter.

Always passionate about the environment, his writing focus over the years shifted towards the climate and other environmental crises, both to express his own feelings of frustration and concern, and to raise public awareness through performance. He has also recently started collaborating with researchers to communicate climate science through poetry.

Aaron has lived abroad since 2016 and currently resides in the Stockholm archipelago where he works in the Swedish public sector.
