Fierce-Gentle: Fleassy Malay and the Blurred Lines @ Melbourne Fringe
October 15 @ 9:00 pm – 9:30 pm
A Melbourne Fringe Festival event.
Fierce yet vulnerable truths scattered with humour and sass; Fleassy Malay addresses topics such as sexuality, gender, mental health, and love through a queer, feminist lens.
Expect sensual vocals, poetry, and comedy, woven amongst groove driven, guitar based melodies composed live by Rory McDougall. The show, which premiered at the National Folk Festival 2022, artfully guides you through a spectrum of emotions. Renowned for her viral poem Witches, Fleassy’s poetry casts a sex-positive, body-positive, and gender-fluid spell with an open invitation to hex the patriarchy.
It also asks that age old question, Why do people hate the word ‘moist’ so much?
This project received Cash for Equity through the Fringe Fund, as part of the Ralph Mclean Microgrants program.
