GriffinSpeak August Featuring Arielle Cottingham (Intl.)

August 31, 2022 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

We acknowledge the GriffinSpeak takes place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, we acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and this always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

GriffinSpeak is back for another month of epic poetry, and this month Arielle Cottingham, will be joining us as our feature.

Queer Afro-Latine poet, editor, performance artist, and educator Arielle Cottingham toured four continents in five years, giving performances and teaching workshops across North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. Their work explores the fluidity of intersectional identities, and it has appeared in multiple literary journals both in print and online. Notable performances include Glastonbury, 48H Neukölln, the Alley Theatre, the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA), and the Sydney Opera House, where they won the title of Australian National Poetry Slam Champion in 2016. They are currently based in Berlin, probably craving falafel and knitting something on their way to boxing class.

We are also back with spaces on the open mic, with 3-5 minute slots in which to share to your heart’s content.
