IWD 2023 – Women of Banyule and Beyond – Mother Tongue 10 Year Celebration!

Mother Tongue runs on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. We Acknowledge that this is, and always will be, Aboriginal Land.

All genders may attend this event with the intention to celebrate women and gender diverse people who identify as women.
This event is an LGBTQI+ led and mindful space.

Deaf/Hard of hearing

Auslan and Live Captioning: Thanks to the generous support of Women with Disabilities Victoria this event will have an Auslan Interpreter at the event and our online audiences will have access to Live Captioning.

Sensory Awareness
The event will have amplified sound and the venue is very large and spacious. The audience will be up to 250 people.

The audience will be seated around circular tables. There will not be a dance floor. People may leave their seats at times but the general intention is for them to stay seated.

The performances will mostly be spoken word with one singer-songwriter on acoustic guitar. There will not be any extreme flashing lights or sudden lighting or sound level shifts.

There will be a short interval for networking when ambient sound may increase as people talk amongst themselves.

There will be no alcohol at this event.

This event is proudly supported by a Banyule City Council Arts and Culture Project Grant and Community Bank East Ivanhoe.
