Mother Tongue – Lockdown Love-In

With a surprise lock-down dropped in our laps and Valentines day halted, Mother Tongue has decided to host a last minute, lockdown love-in.

Let’s care for our mental health, and go on a big communal date together into the world of poetry. Open mic themes of love, sensuality, appreciation, friendship, and Eros. (The poems do NOT have to be about traditional romantic love <3)

The event will be held on Zoom and facilitated by Fleassy Malay.

Featuring a short set on theme by Fleassy Malay, plus 10 open mic spots.

WE WILL ALSO START HALF AN HOUR EARLIER (at 7:00pm) to allow for post event at-home care before bed for all involved.

Mother Tongue is hosted on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. Mother Tongue is a place for Passionate, Powerful, Vulnerable and Honest performance; it stands aside from most Spoken Word events in its depth and authenticity.
Mother Tongue is an intimate, warm and cozy night of Spoken Word (poetry, stories, songs, and more!). It is a space to sit back and listen, receive, as well as step up to your ultimate awesomeness and share a piece yourself on the Open Mic.
It is a place to witness “Woman” in all of her incredible facets and hear the voices of marginalised groups with celebration and care.

All genders are welcome in the audience, open mic slots available to those who identify as women (Inclusive of gender diverse people AFAB and AMAB who include “Woman” within their gender identity).
