Perc.U.lations ft. Ela Fornalska
April 8 @ 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Perc.u.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria, a spoken word event that takes place in Northcote.
Our Poetry and Spoken Word events will be held every second Saturday of the month at 3 p.m.
Our Feature for the 11`th of March is the eloquent and ever energised Ela Fornalska.
Ela Fornalska is a poet and a language teacher. She has performed her work in festivals, on television, the radio, and on a tram. Ela has been published in various anthologies, audio compilations, literary magazines and journals. She was shortlisted in the teacher section of Red Room Poetry’s national competition ‘Poetry Object’, has been a finalist at the ‘Melbourne Spoken Word Prize’, a grand finalist in the ‘Sydney Road Writers Contest & Cup’, and won Wordcraft Spoken Word Slam. Ela has been an international guest at the festival ‘Österreich Liest’ (Austria Reads). Her work has been translated into multiple languages, and she occasionally writes and performs bilingually. The Dance Inside is her first full-length collection.
An open-mic is available for as many poets as we can squeeze in before and after our feature. This gig will celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers as well.
The venue for Perc.u.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong. about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.
Perc.u.lations is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.
This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public and closing off the area isn’t feasible. This way even walk-in traffic can contribute.
Perc.u.lations is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event and the open mic is open to anyone.
