Perc.U.lations ft. Peter Salvatore Matthews
March 11 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Our Poetry and Spoken Word events will be held every second Saturday of the month at 3 p.m., beginning January 14th, 2023!
Our Feature for March is the hyper-observant and lyrical Peter Salvatore Matthews:
“Peter Salvatore Matthews is a former gifted child exiting his burnout phase.
After a career yelling spoken word epyllions about history and current events to inner Melbourne crowds, he spent the pandemic studying page poetry, metaphysics, and satire. He mingles the new gravity of his words with twelve years of emotional and often hilarious stage presence. Reviewers have called him a critical thinker, an expert-level political analyst, heavy metal in word form, and a crackpot.
Peter notoriously brings crowds along as he sweats through his 10,000 hours of poetry writing, using them as a real-time workshop.
He lives in Frankston with three degrees, thousands of books, a dog, and most of his teeth.”
An open-mic is available for as many poets as we can squeeze in before and after our feature. This gig will celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers as well.
The venue for Perc.u.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong. about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.
Perc.u.lations is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.
This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public and closing off the area isn’t possible. This way even walk-in traffic can contribute.
Perc.u.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event and the open mic is open to anyone.
