It has been a while! After the years that were, we’re finally back bigger and better than ever.
Wordcraft has found a new home at the incredible Fitzroy Art Collective and tonight, we are sending out the year with the first of many wonderful nights to come!
If you are a writer, a reader, a listener or a lover, come along and bear witness to the open mic stage and the magic that brews upon it. You can come to listen, read or both, as writers of all kinds brave the stage and share their truth.
Hosted by 2020 Australian Poetry Slam Champion, Ren Alessandra, Wordcraft is about honouring our stories raw and in process. The open mic welcomes writers of ALL levels of experience, you words are more than ready to be heard. The mic is waiting for you and so are we!
Our feature this month is PARMINDER KAUR
Parminder Kaur ( @1parminder1 ) is a Melbourne-based artist and slam poet whose practice focuses on re-centering peripheral bodies and disrupting traditional narratives around people and place. She was the winner of Slamadamadingdong 2021 and the 2021 Speak up , Own Your Voice Poetry Slam @ Connection Art Spaces. She has had her work published in print by Bowen Street Press. She interweaves her love of poetry into her art and has been exhibited in multiple art galleries and exhibitions.
Doors open at 7 for a 7.30pm start/ 10 spots on the open mic, sign up at door/ BYO drinks (YAY)/ ALL WELCOME!
There will be a secondhand book stall and all takings will be donated to I Am Someone who build homes and schools for children in Sierra Leone.
