Words Alive
July 28, 2021 @ 6:30 am - 7:30 pm
Free
Words Alive is a night of spoken word, poetry and storytelling at Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub. Curated by local writer and performer Fleassy Malay, each evening will feature an inspiring Melbourne poet to present their poetry and the stories behind them, followed by an open mic line up from emerging and established artists.
The evening will include an open mic section, for which we are seeking poets and spoken word artists of all levels of poetry experience to perform up to 5 minute long sets. We strongly encourage first time performers, people from the LGBTQI+ community, BIPOC, and people who have experienced marginalisation to apply. This event is intended to be a space for all writers to share their poetry in a safe and encouraging space. The venue and stage is fully wheelchair accessible. Whether you have never performed or are established in your practice, we encourage you to submit an expression of interest!
Whether you’re a writer, reader or lover of live performance join us for Words Alive!
