Words Aloud – By Eastern Regional Libraries at Miller’s Homestead

September 7, 2022 @ 5:00 pm 7:00 pm

Calling all wordsmiths, poets, spoken word artists, short story, letter and song lyric writers!

Share your words, stories and art with others in the intimate, cosy setting of The Parlour at Miller’s Homestead on the first Wednesday of the month at 5pm.

These sessions are a place for you to connect and be inspired by other wordsmiths and have a chance to perform your works to a respectful and inclusive audience.

Each session will begin with a guest performer and will be followed by an open mic session. – an opportunity for writers to read their work aloud to the group.

The special guest for September is poet and wordsmith, John McKelvie.

John McKelvie came from Scotland to Melbourne more than 30 years ago. He has been writing poems, stories and songs for more than 60 years and was involved in the Imago performance group in London which combined Poetry Dance and Music for theatre presentation. He really enjoys the Melbourne poetry scene where his blend of song, serious verse and humour, have gained him respect. His work has been included in Best Australian Poems and various anthologies. His book Hopscotch was first published in 2011.
