An online portal into Melbourne’s spoken word scene coming soon

Callings poets, spoken word artists, word smiths, performance poets, or lovers of any of those things. This website is the beginning of a central online portal into Melbourne’s spoken word scene. Featuring reviews and interviews looking at the CDs, books, gigs, festivals and personalities of the scene as well as featuring all of the upcoming features, slams, workshops, open mics and events. We’ll also discuss the issues and debates on the scene. At least we’re hoping.

And by ‘we,’ I mean I’m looking for other poets, performers and those involved in the scene to contribute. We have sites that feature upcoming events, and others that sometimes feature reviews, but I’m hoping this will become a central online hub for the scene contributed by those who know it best.

Annie Solah

Annie Solah is a writer, poet, spoken word artist, activist and the Director of Melbourne Spoken Word. She grew up in Western Sydney before calling Melbourne home in 2008, where she's performed since 2010 around Melbourne's regular spoken word and poetry nights including Passionate Tongues, The Dan Poets, Voices in the Attic and House of Bricks as well as the NGV and White Night.
