Slamalamadingdong happens on the last Thursday of the month, at 24 Moons, Northcote

John is a freelance photographer, a spoken word poet and Melbourne’s 2015 Poetry Slam Champion.

A regular contributor to the Melbourne poetry scene, he has featured at TedX St Kilda, Slamalamadingdong, ProudSpoken, Ex Libris Writer’s Festival, White Night 2016, Melbourne’s World Refugee Day Rally, and Multicultural Arts Victoria’s showcase Common Ground for the Emerge Writer’s Festival.

His work centres around notions of hope, identity and wonder. He has mentored and run workshops for creative people in the fields of live performance and the visual arts; is co-host of Faith Speaks and has just published his first book “If The World Were Upside Down.”

Benjamin Solah is a writer, poet, spoken word artist, activist and the Director of Melbourne Spoken Word. He grew up in Western Sydney before calling Melbourne home in 2008, where he's performed since 2010 around Melbourne's regular spoken word and poetry nights including Passionate Tongues, The Dan Poets, Voices in the Attic and House of Bricks as well as the NGV and White Night. He's released a chapbook, broken bodies, and two spoken word albums, Duel Power with Santo Cazzati and The World Doesn't Make Sense EP.
