We’ve just launched the Melbourne Spoken Word mailing list to complement our other channels of communication, this website, Facebook and Twitter. We’ve also been existing offline in the form of leaflets with upcoming events being handed out at various poetry events. We want to reach people in Melbourne new to poetry but also be a central point of communication between different sections of the poetry and spoken word scene. Changing of the guard at La Mama Poetica

Last night, convener of La Mama Poetica, Matt Hetherington put on his last show as convener, handing over the reins before moving to Queensland.

His last line-up featured Ian McBryde, Tom Joyce, Antonia Pont and Emily Manger and the announcement of who would take over running the prestigious gig. La Mama Poetica takes place at The La Mama Courthouse Theatre in Drummond Street, Carlton on Monday nights usually every two months or so and is considered one of the most prestigious poetry events in Melbourne.
